Alyssa S Maizan, MSN, APRN, ACNP-BC, CCRN

Alyssa S Maizan, MSN, APRN, ACNP-BC, CCRN obtained her MSN from the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing. She has over 18 years of clinical experience as an acute care nurse practitioner. Alyssa got into nursing “accidentally” 28 years ago when she joined the US Army Reserves to help pay for college and underwent the military’s LPN program training. She didn’t expect to fall in love with nursing but she did, and that set her on a course to pursue her RN, BSN, and then an advance degree as a nurse practitioner. Alyssa has a passion for critical care, having spent the bulk of her nursing career working in a variety of intensive care units, both as a RN and then as an acute care NP.

Alyssa currently works as an Intensivist Nurse Practitioner in a busy urban teaching hospital in Minneapolis, Minnesota covering three intensive care units with a large group of board-certified intensivist physicians and advance practice providers.

Additionally, Alyssa is a clinical faculty for the Streamlined Adult Gerontology Acute Care NP Post-Graduate program at the University of Pennsylvania. One of her joys is mentoring new nurse practitioners and nurse practitioner students.

When she isn't working, Alyssa loves traveling, discovering new restaurants, reading, and trying to learn how to knit.
